Great People

Great People are special characters that give multipliers to your empire. Its the main prestige progression mechanics in CivIdle

Great People Basics[edit | edit source]

The bonuses from Great People come from Three (stacking) sets of bonuses: [Current Run Great People] + [Permanent Great People] + [Age Wisdom].

Current Run Great People[edit | edit source]

Current Run Great People are the Great People that have been acquired during the current run. A given Great Person can be selected more than one time in a given run, but their bonus is reduced for each additional selection. Most Great People follow the pattern +1 bonus, +0.5 bonus, +0.333 bonus ... etc.

Great People Shards[edit | edit source]

Once a player decides to rebirth from a given run, all of the Current Great People are converted into their corresponding Great Person Shards. Great Person Shards are used to upgrade both Permanent Great People and Age Wisdom.

Permanent Great People[edit | edit source]

Great People Shards can be used to upgrade the level of the corresponding Permanent Great Person. Each level provides the same bonus as the initial Current Run Great Person. The first upgrade level costs one shard, but each subsequent level costs twice as much (1,2,4,8,16...) as the previous level (Excluding Fibonacci).

Age Wisdom[edit | edit source]

Great People Shards can also be used to upgrade Age Wisdom. The primary difference is that Age Wisdom has to be upgraded for all Great People from a given age at the same time. This is to encourage players to keep Great People relatively balanced. Each level of Age wisdom costs (2^Age Level - 1) shards (1,3,7,15...).

Permanent Great People can also be reverted back into shards in order to upgrade Age Wisdom sooner.

Sargon of Akkad - Base bonus of +1 Production Multiplier, Storage Multiplier for Logging Camp, Lumber Mill
This Run: 1 (+1 Multiplier)
Permanent Level: V (+5 Multiplier)
Bronze Age Wisdom Level: 3 (+3 Multiplier)
Total: +9 Production and Storage Multiplier for Logging Camp, Lumber Mill

Selecting Sargon of Akkad an additional time during the same run would only provide +0.5 Multiplier


Acquiring Great People[edit | edit source]

There are two primary ways of getting GPs:

- Entering a new age
- Resetting with enough Empire Value to get Extra GPs

Entering New Age

Upon entering a New Age you get a to choose 1 of 3 random Great Persons from that age. You additionally get to choose 1 of 3 random Great Persons from each of the previously unlocked Ages during that run.

For example, upon entering Bronze Age you get to choose 1 Great Person from the Bronze Age, but when entering the Classical Age you get to choose one Great Person from the Classical, Iron, and Bronze Ages.

Extra GPs

Additionally, when starting a new run you get choices of extra GPs if you rebirthed after hitting Empire Value (EV) thresholds. This is NOT necessary to rebirth.

You will only get offered GPs from the age up to one higher then what was reached in the previous run. Meaning you will NOT get Industrial age GPs if you've rebirthed at Bronze age

Each next Great Person will require more EV, and growth is exponential, following this formula: Required Extra GP^3 * 64M
