Four Corners strategy. Rush to Industrial Age
Four Corners strategy. Rush to Industrial Age is one of the Guides for CivIdle.
The purpose of this strategy is to reach industrial age as quickly as possible (my runs are about 6 hours), rinse and repeat. This strategy maximizes science production by maximizing population. While attempting to employ as many as possible, this strategy will not reach 50% employed. This is not a beginner strategy - run time is heavily influenced by GP levels. It's also not good at generating high Empire Value.
Employed Science is about double my unemployed science, but this strategy allows me to make about four times unemployed workers than if I tried to keep everyone employed. I keep supply routes as long as possible by using the corners - the further apart the supply and consumer buildings, the more population is employed.
For the most part, tier 1 Buildings supply tier 2 which supply tier 3 which supply tier 4. So build odd tier Buildings in one corner and even tier Buildings in the opposite corner. For population, water and wheat are tier 1, milk/meat and flour are tier 2, bread and cheese are tier 3, and apartments are tier 4. Water is the hardest to find for Athens, so which corner has water determines which corner gets the odd tier buildings.
The other two opposite corners are for all of the other production (non-population) buildings. As long as the building is functioning, the happiness cost of the building is returned for the first building of each type. So build those buildings in the same way, odd tiers in one corner and even tiers in the opposite corner - happiness-free employment.
Bottom right, you can see this run took 6 hrs 3 min. Note that only 20% is employed but employed generates 36% of science rate.
